Hyundai Hits Export Mode: Ships 48,140 Cars, Tells the World ‘Catch Us If You Can

Hyundai’s Global Game Strong: Exports Zoom 13%, Contribute Over a Quarter of Total Sales in Q1 FY2026

Gurugram: While some carmakers are still deciding whether to pack an umbrella or a briefcase this monsoon quarter, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has taken a global flight path—quite literally. With 48,140 units exported between April and June 2025, the company registered a cruise-controlled 13% year-on-year export growth and a 26.7% contribution to total sales in Q1 FY2026. If cars had passports, Hyundai’s export line-up would need extra visa pages.

In June 2025 alone, HMIL clocked 60,924 total units—comprising 44,024 domestic sales and 16,900 export units. SUVs continued to rule Indian driveways, contributing a road-hugging 67.6% to HMIL’s total domestic sales. Clearly, Indians still like their vehicles tall, strong, and loaded with features.

Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and COO of HMIL, played it cool and calculated in his remarks:

“Underscoring the global appeal of Hyundai vehicles, we recorded a 13% YoY growth in export volumes… With Talegaon production starting soon, and with repo rates playing nice and CRR doing its bit, we remain cautiously optimistic. Basically, we’re geared up for a smooth ride—barring unexpected potholes from global geopolitics.”

Hyundai’s balance between global push and local pull seems to be working: while the domestic market saw some speed bumps thanks to market sentiments and global uncertainties, HMIL’s export engines kept the momentum alive. The result? Hyundai didn’t just drive, it shipped success this quarter.

In Summary:
🚗 Total Q1 FY2026 Sales: 1,80,399 units
🌍 Exports: 48,140 units (up 13% YoY)
🏠 Domestic: 1,32,259 units
📦 Export Contribution: 26.7% of total sales
🚙 SUV Share in June Domestic Sales: 67.6%
🏭 Talegaon Plant: Production start imminent
