BYD Auto
BYD Auto (Build Your Dreams) is the automotive arm of Chinese tech giant BYD Company, founded in 2003 by Wang Chuanfu following the acquisition of Xi’an Qinchuan Automobile. It produces battery electric (BEVs) and plug‑in hybrid (PHEVs) vehicles, along with electric buses and trucks, marketed under the brands BYD, Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang.
A pioneer in “new energy” mobility, BYD launched its first hybrid in 2008 and EV in 2009, phasing out combustion-engine cars by 2022. Its proprietary Blade battery, renowned for safety and efficiency, powers all BEVs since 2021.
With over 4 million vehicles produced in 2024—including exports to 70+ countries—BYD is now China’s top automaker and the world’s largest NEV manufacturer. The company is expanding globally, with production facilities across Asia, Latin America, Europe, and plans for Brazil and Hungary.
